It’s apparent from reading many forums and blogs that many publishers are skeptical and have a downright negative attitude toward the Google AdSense program. The reason is very simple. They have been using AdSense to monetize their website for months, maybe years, and have barely made enough money from it to buy a Kit Kat at the grocery store.
Oh sure, stories abound of people who are making thousands of dollars from this affiliate program but those people seem to be the exception to the rule rather than the norm.
I would say at least 70% of the publishers out there do not even make $10 a year from their AdSense earnings.
Is this program dead? Are the stories even true? Can a person make a good amount of money that is worth talking about from AdSense?
The answer it yes but there are factors that need to take place. Many publishers create great content but do not understand how Internet marketing works and therefore do not make very much money unless they get lucky.
To make it easier I have outlined three factors that need to happen for someone to make money. Read them and check them upon what you are doing so that you can make some modifications if necessary.
Volume
What is your daily search volume. Is it at least over 100 visitors a day? Unless you have a super niche site with a very high conversion rate, which is rare, then you need hundreds of people coming to you site on a daily basis to make any money off AdSense.
A natural and consistent CTR will be 5%. So unless you have at least 100 people coming every single day then you will not even get five clicks a day. You are going to need at least that to make any sort of real money.
Somewhat Specific Niche
Many people have blogs and websites that are general in nature. They rant, rave, entertain or cover really large topics. Yeah, you might have a lot of traffic coming to your website but for what purpose?
You need to check your stats and see what search terms people are using to come to your website. If they are not actively looking for something or looking to fulfill a need then you will have a very poor click-through-rate and will not make money. The more specific your blog is the better.
AdSense Block Placement
Stay away from the right sidebar. Its conversion rates are bad. Place your ads in the middle or at the end of your content. If your article is good then your CTR will be amazing.
Follow the Google Heat Map. It is never wrong. They did research and they tell you, in plain English, where to put your blocks of ads for maximum effectiveness. Use it!
These are the three factors you need to analyze if you want to use your blog to make AdSense income. Contrary to what people say there are many people making money blogging and making money with Google AdSense. You just need to either change the way you are doing things or tweak what you have already started.
Make the required adjustments, sit back and watch the money start to roll in. You can also visit the official Google AdSense blog to find out more tips and tricks to get the highest conversion rates possible.
