One of the decisions you must make when you start a small business is how you are going to advertise it. If you understand some basic advertising psychology it will help you decide the best way to spend your advertising money.
People make purchasing decisions with their emotions. They see how a product will make them feel better or make their life easier, or they want it because it is something they really like. So when you are advertising your business, you have to do more than just give a description. You have to make the benefits of the product or service speak to them.
Take skin care products, for example. An advertisement will focus on how this product will make your skin look and feel great. It will describe how it will make you look younger or make your complexion clearer. It will show how happy you will be after you get the benefits of using it. It may mention one or two ingredients, but the focus is on making you feel better about yourself. We really don’t care how it’s made or what’s in it. We buy it because we want to look better.
There are many styles of marketing, but whether you advertise locally or nationally, your advertising strategy basically fall into one of two categories. Push marketing is the commercial you see over and over on television or the advertisement you see in every magazine. It is telling you that you must have a product and why you must have it. It is pushing you to buy it.
Pull marketing, more commonly called search marketing, is reaching for the consumer that is searching for something by advertising in places they might be looking for a solution. Internet search engines are a primary source of search marketing.
Many products or services are aimed at a certain group of people; teenagers, senior citizens, women, men, etc. You should think about the primary group of consumers you will serve and target your advertising toward that group. Think of what type of advertising will best respond to that group.
Very good tips, i will take in mind for my business.
